So, you are up for a change of salons either by circumstances or by choice.
There are so many to choose from it is easy to become overwhelmed. Each salon should have it’s own character and personality which forms the basis to their culture.
Although, ultimately you will need to make your choice of stylist, it is good to make sure that the salon and it’s culture is a good fit for you. There is so much more to choosing where to call ‘home’ for your hair than just your stylist. Upon walking in through the doors, is it welcoming with a friendly inviting atmosphere and décor? Is it clean? Does it resinate with you? Is it your vibe? Do you like hype, loud and busy or do you prefer calm and gentle where the focus is on peace, pampering and relaxation? Is it comfortable, cheery and inviting, encouraging a sense of belonging? Does the ambience and music speak to your needs? Is it modern or contemporary? Does the age group matter? Are you made to feel welcome and important?
Basically, in a nut shell, you know what your needs and expectations are, and to put it simply, does the salon, its environment and ‘heart’ meet them? Are you left feeling warm or cold? Why is this important? To put it simply, it is about the overall experience and not just the service.
With such choice at your disposal, get a clear idea of the kind of salon you would be comfortable in what your needs and expectations are and seek out that kind of salon from the start. For example; the first question is do you like the buzz of a busy big salon or does the boutique styled home based/ single operator salon suite you more? Once you know your starting point you can then go on a discovery journey possibly having a simple blow dry or asking for an obligation free consultation in order to find out if they fit the mould you seek.
